How do I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone to JPG locally?

Why iPhone photos are HEIC in the first place
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11 — it stores a photo at roughly half the file size of an equivalent JPEG at the same visual quality, which is why iPhones default to it. The trade-off is compatibility: HEIC isn't universally supported the way JPEG is, so a HEIC file sent to an older app, a Windows PC without the right codec, or most web upload forms can show up as unreadable or simply refuse to open — which is usually the actual reason someone needs to convert it to JPEG in the first place.
How to convert it in Zurapic
